U. Of Florida Tournament

The Women's Soccer Club at UCF traveled to Gainesville to compete in the University of Florida Fall Soccer Tournament. Teams traveled all over from the south east including U. of Georgia, Clemnson, Eckerd College, U. of Miami, and home team U. of Florida. The Knights completed the first round of competition undefeated. Beating Clemnson 0-2, Eckerd 0-6, and Georgia 2-1. The Knights continued onto second round competition beating U. of Florida's B team 2-0, to advance to the finals. The Finals resulted in a hard fought match against U. of Florida's A team, and at the half both teams were still scoreless at a 0-0 tie. Unfortunately, with about 15 minutes left UF slipped past the defense to go up 1-0, and then a few moments later UF was awarded a penalty kick to finish the score 2-0. The Knights had several opportunities, but were unable to capitalize. The Knights came home with the runner-up award and is their best tournament placing to date. Special MVP recognition goes to Goal keeper Sabrina Rivera, who played every minute of every game with a long sleeve jersey in 95 degree heat and a neck injury. Sabrina had 2 spectacular shut outs and truly helped the Knights reach the finals. The Knights will continue CFSL league play Tuesday against Surf at 8pm at Central Florida Winds. Thanks to all who competed.
